Hrithik Roshan unveils Kantara: Chapter 1 hindi trailer

Bollywood superstar Hrithik Roshan took to social media with powerful words to unveil the Hindi trailer of Kantara: A Legend – Chapter 1, calling it: “Some stories aren’t just told, they are experienced.” And if the trailer is anything to go by, that statement holds thunderous truth. This prequel to the 2022 pan-Indian phenomenon Kantara promises a cinematic journey steeped in folklore, faith, and fury—and fans are all in.

Directed by the visionary Rishab Shetty, who also returns in the lead as Berme, Chapter 1 goes back in time, diving deep into the 1990s-era forest conflicts of coastal Karnataka. The story unfolds against the backdrop of indigenous resistance, divine possession, and spiritual inheritance—territory Shetty explored in the first film but now scales to mythic proportions. Joining him are Rukmini Vasanth as Kanakavathi and Gulshan Devaiah as the menacing Kulashekara, with Jayaram rounding out the ensemble.

Produced by Vijay Kiragandur under the Hombale Films banner—the powerhouse behind KGF and Salaar—Kantara: Chapter 1 carries the studio’s signature: stylized action, richly textured visuals, and soul-stirring storytelling. The haunting score by B. Ajaneesh Loknath once again gives the film its spiritual heartbeat, building an atmosphere that feels both ancient and visceral.

What makes Kantara more than just a film franchise is its cultural footprint. The first chapter grossed over ₹400 crore worldwide, but beyond the numbers, it sparked real-world impact—like a monthly pension scheme for Bhuta Kola performers in Karnataka, acknowledging the film’s role in reviving interest in endangered cultural practices. This prequel now has the burden—and the beauty—of continuing that legacy.
